What was written was excellent. It was a compilation of interviews the author had given over the years and did have some good thoughts on history and how or why he approached writing each of his novels. The author is obviously knowledgeable about writing, and expert in his time period and I ended up learning a great deal about that era, which I liked. But I would have appreciated more actual writing tips or strategies for research or incorporating history without slowing the story's pace, etc. Unfortunately it is hard to find books on this subject with practical information specific to this genre. But I did enjoy the book, learned some, and actually am interested in reading the author's books.
